The adventure begins
After a long anticipation the journey finally started...
I had to get up at 5 o'clock early in the morning and by the time the plane started (at 9.20)
I was really awake. At 11.15 I arrived in Dublin. After a quick lunch I went to search for the
bus. The journey to Galway lasted 3 hours. When I arrived at 15.40 in Galway I was expected
by my hostfamily at the bus station. After a coffee break I moved into my room and soon after
this it was time for dinner.
On Sunday I explored Salthill and Galway City.

The first two weeks
The first day, after a short information, we had to do a placement test. According
to this test, the new students were divided into the appropriate classes, but the
composition of the classes changed continuously and new students come and went.
The first few days I visited Galway City and Salthill and of course also some pubs.
At school I met Andrea from Germany. She had rented a car, now I had the chance
to visit places outside Galway City with her. Thursday we visited the neighbouring
villages Barna, Spiddal and Moycullen.

Saturday we decided to take a tour to Connemara. After a short stop at Kylemore
Abbey we arrived at the Connemara National Park, where we walked on top of
Diamond Hill.

Then we went to Clifden, where we enjoyed a wonderful view along the Sky Road.
Wednesday we visited Aughnanure Castle in Oughterard and then we went to Ard
at Loch Corrib.
Thursday we visited Brigit's Garden in Rosscahill.
... and allready the first month is over
The time passes verry quickly.
Because the weather was bad I visited the Atlantaquarium (National Aquarium
of Ireland). There you can see a very interesting marine life.

Andrea is gone back to Germany on Saturday and because I don't want to drive on
the wrong side of the road. I'll now travel around by bus.
On Tuesday I went for a visit to Tuam, where I expected to find two Celtic crosses.
Unfortunaltely they are inside the Church, which is open only on Sundays. On the way
back to Galway I could see in Claregalway the ruin of the Claregalway Abbey with a
very old cemetery. So I decided to visit this town the next day. The door to the ruin
is closed but there are stones to climbe over the wall ;-).
On Friday evening I visited the Greyhound Racing. But the dogs were to fast to
take a photo.
On Wednesday I took a two hours walk to Newcastle, a part of Galway. After a
long search finally I found the place on the Corrib River, where is on the opposite
of the River the ruine Menlo Castle. Slightly downriver is the ruine of Terryland
Castle.
On Saturday I was invited by my host family at the birthday party of the son in law.
This was an interesting experience with a lot of Guinness and a lot of whiskey.
During a walk through the city on Sunday, I came to Bohermore Cemetery, where
I saw some very old Celtic crosses and two small churches. Unfortunately when I
got there it started to rain heavily and I couldn't take any photos. But I'll go again
next week;-)

Half time
Some impressions on my way to school.
On wednesday I walked again to Bohermore Cemetery, this time with typical irish
blue sky with special clouds.
Last weekend the Galway Horse Races in Ballybrit were held. On Saturday morning
I went on the way. Because there was a heavy rain I decided to go into a pub for
lunch. In Ireland very often the weather changes very quickly, so when the rain
stopped I went to search for the right bus. Then I enjoyed beautiful weather at
the races.
On thursday I took the bus to Oranmore near Galway.
On the weekend I was very pleased when Silvano and Sandra visited me. :-)
The time passed much too fast with sightseeing, shopping, tattoo studio und
Halloween.
